Barrier Wraps

Barrier Wraps

CuLam Barrier Wrap is used by electric utilities and others as a permanent barrier that is applied to the below-ground portion of preservative treated wood poles and timbers. The easy to use, slip-on style laminated wrap contains 3 total layers. Two layers of 89-micron high performance film are utilized to sandwich an 18-micron layer of copper foil. The high performance edge seals are produced using patented ultrasound technology. This very tough, durable and long lasting system will all but eliminate any preservative movement from treated wood into the surrounding environment while dramatically improving the service life of the wood. Application is made in the field by simply slipping the sleeve onto the pole; tighten, then setting the pole normally. Silicone self-fusing tape is used to seal the top or other areas that may be exposed. Use of copper foil, instead of less expensive metals, insures that soil contact corrosion does not occur and allows CuLam to offer superior long-term performance.
