Cu-Bor Convenience Pouches - Case of 24 (Each Pouch is 18” x 12”). Using the same formula as the paste version, this Cu-Bor option is packaged in easy to use pouches that can be applied directly to the pole like a bandage. Simply slit and fit by slicing along the dotted lines then stapling to the pole. Each box contains 24 sections (24 feet) that are packed in a durable, weatherproof box. Box packaging offers storage and container disposal advantages. External wood preservative paste is applied by brush to the ground-line zone of standing utility poles to extend the service-life of wood poles for up to 15 years. Cu-Bor is EPA and PMRA registered and is produced by one of North Americas leading preservative manufacturers. Cu-Bor contains diffusible borates as well as copper as active ingredients. Nearly 80% of a wood poles strength is derived from the outer shell of wood at the ground-line so preventing this area from decaying “rotting” is of great economic and safety importance. This Copper Boron formula is also available as a liquid that can be used for the treatment of other wood products such as fence post, archway poles, railroad ties and other in-service timbers. The use of solid borate rods such as the EPA registered BOR 8 Rod, DOT Rod, Cobra Rod or the Impel Rod has proven to be an effective way of protecting the internal area of wood poles and other timber products. Borates diffuse within the cell structure of the wood and render the wood inhabitable to fungi and insects. For standing poles, solid rods are a wise choice especially in populated or environmentally sensitive areas. Many Southern Yellow Pine pole owners prefer solid rods over fumigants. Borates can travel up to 18” from the application hole. Always read and follow EPA label directions.
