Internal Wood Pole Fumigant Treatments
Internal fumigant treatments are a top choice for controlling wood pole decay that occurs in the internal zone of standing utility poles. G Fume 96, a granular, contains 98% Tetrahydro-3,5-dimethyl-2H-1,3,5-thiadiazine-2-thione and is the most easily applied of the fumigants. Liquid and Gel fumigant forms are also available and have some advantages as well. Many long term efficacy studies have been performed on fumigant treatments by Oregon State University. All types of fumigant treatments offer much greater distribution characteristics in the wood than do other internal treatment methods. Fumigants can travel up to 8 feet from the application point.
