L Fume 33 Liquid Fumigant (4x1 Case)

L Fume 33 (4x1 Case) L Fume 33 contains 33% Metam Sodium Liquid Internal Treatment Fumigant. Liquid or Granular fumigants are applied to the internal area of in-service standing wood poles to arrest or prevent internal decay. Western species such as Douglas Fir and Western Red Cedar have large untreated heartwood zones that are especially susceptible to internal decay. Southern Yellow pine poles, plus other less common wood species, may also have internal decay issues that should be addressed. Applying an EPA registered fumigant treatment, which can travel up to 8 feet from the treatment hole, keeps this important area strong and in-service.  Poles, Inc offers both L Fume 33 and WOODFUME liquid fumigant.  Both are US EPA labeled preservatives for use on in-service wood poles. L Fume 33 and WOODFUME are listed under California’s Prop 65.  Poles, Inc. also offers granular internal treatments called G Fume and DuraFume II.  Many utilities and contractors prefer the ease of use and efficacy advantages of granular fumigants. Granular fumigants are widely used throughout the US and are not listed on CA Prop 65.

Liquid fumigant does offer some initial cost savings vs granular, and they are specified by some large utilities. Liquid fumigants have a life expectancy of 8 to 10 years. Granular fumigant, however, has demonstrated a longer 12 to15 year life cycle in tests at Oregon State University.

Fumigant treatments are also applied to poles that are surrounded by sidewalks or other obstructions that prevent them from being excavated and from having an external treatment applied. Always read and follow EPA label directions.
