Bridge Joint Treatments

Bridge Joint Treatments

Wooden bridges, whether highway, railroad, or recreational should also be inspected and retreated for safety and asset management. The preservatives that are commonly used in a wood pole inspection and treatment program can also be used to protect bridges. The area where two bridge members come together, the joint, is often an area where decay will start. Other areas of the bridge may also need to be treated, especially if that area is in contact with the soil. Application of wood preservative to these areas will increase the service-life of the bridge. Many historical covered bridges are being restored using these preservatives. Please call (719) 685-0333 for bridge maintenance preservative recommendations.
